Reigning Queens

Reigning Queens Pop! with Diamond Dust

Reigning Queens - 1985 - Andy Warhol. We are kind of Warhol fans over here. Some have said these screenprints were a 'monument to kitsch' and ' a shameless assault on the rich kitsch market'. Maybe. Probably. We don't own one of course but the Royal Collection of the British Royal Family does, the Tate Gallery...The prints were created from official photographs then 'touched' by Warhol. A separate Royal edition was issued - these Warhol sprinkled 'Diamond Dust' which was actually ground up glass on the prints while they were still wet. Who doesn't love a bit of Diamond Dust!.The subjects: Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Queen Ntombi Twala of Swaziland and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Warhol turned theyse monarchs into Pop Queens. On that note...POP on over to our Reigning Queens Collection and see who Pops! for you.
