And dear Lizzie has had her fair share of screen time, but this is the early years, which I don't think has really been shown. The story starts with Elizabeth being an orphaned teenager and follows the story of her fight for the crown after the death of her father, the notorious Henry VIII. Elizabeth and her siblings became pawns in a game between the great families of England along with the powers of Europe vieing for control of the country. And of course, this version shows all the relevant things....gender imbalance, consent and power imbalance in relationships.
Alicia von Rittberg, stars. A young German actress, who is quite acclaimed for such a young age. She's won awards in her native country and recently co-starred as Emma, with some big names in the film Fury - Brad Pitt, Logan Lerman and Shia LaBeouf. So she has some chops!
